Inspiration
Illustrative Alphabet
Here is my Illustrative Alphabet, Knotical, that was created through the combination of the different knots and the excess rope to make the letterforms. I've also included the Ad I created to sell the typeface to it's potential buyers. I'm still going to go back and tweak it a bit up this is essentially the "first" version of the Ad.

Also, I have to create an event poster incorporating the typeface. The preliminary versions will come up soon.

Design Trends
Some of the design trends that I've seen going around are
- lighter color palettes
-recycled materials / "green" designs / sustainability
- infographics
- nature inspired
Web design trends:
-large photo backgrounds
-textures
-3D "environments"
Here's an ad from Nike contributing to the "recycled" trend:

Example of 3D environment:

you have to take the GOOD with the BAD . . . .
These are a few examples of some of my favorite designs along with some designs that I thought were pretty awful especially for being done by a "professional"
To start it off, here are a couple posters that I thought were absolutely horrible:

Here are some movie posters that I thought were very well done.

the WORK . . . that got me in The Program
Here are a couple of piece I think that in one way or another got me into the Graphic Design Program.
This is a promotional postcard and a business card I created for Olivia's Cafe. It's a neighborhood cafe in the East Atlanta Village. They serve brunch in the mornings and afternoons on the weekends and are working on having bands come and play at the cafe at nights.
This is the logo that I created for the cafe.
We had a book cover project in Intro to Graphic Design where we had to create a book cover for a book that we had read. I ended up doing James Frey's A Million Little Pieces. I used a black and white contrast for the cover to convey the dark and gruesome material covered in the book.
For Intro Typography we had to create a movie poster incorporating the grid system along with keeping it typographically driven. I thought this was one of my strongest pieces because of the spacial relationships between the guns in the background working harmoniously with the text information.
